RoMIUS Institute of Northwest Ohio is focused on providing outstanding urologic care for men and women with a personal touch. Our physicians take pride in getting to know each patient, understanding their goals regarding their condition and creating a treatment plan specific to their needs using state of the art, advanced treatment options when appropriate.

With three board-certified urologists and two nurse practitioners practicing out of five different office locations in Northwest Ohio, we aim to provide our patients with convenient appointment times close to home. Since our offices have Toledo Clinic or Mercy Health System affiliations, we are able to accommodate most commercial insurances, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Dr. Mirza Baig was born and raised in Southeast Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Mathematics. He went on to obtain a medical degree from the University Of Toledo College Of Medicine, where he also completed six years of training in Urologic Surgery and Kidney Transplantation. During his residency he went on sabbatical to learn from world-renowned Urologic surgeons at the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic. He then pursued further training in advanced robotic prostate and kidney surgery at Henry Ford Hospital, where these techniques were once pioneered.

Dr. Baig enjoys treating all adult urologic conditions including prostate disorders, stone disease, and incontinence. He is especially passionate about urologic cancer and robotic surgery. He has performed well over 1000 robotic surgeries for all types of urologic cancer (prostate, kidney, bladder, adrenal, ureter). He has served as the Director of Robotic Surgery at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center for over a decade, which remains the most robust robotic surgery program in the region. In addition, Dr. Baig prides himself on his ability in teaching complex surgical techniques to urology residents and surgeons throughout the greater Toledo area.

Most importantly, Dr. Baig holds himself to the highest standards of quality and strives to provide his patients the best possible outcomes. His caring and compassionate personality allows him to be uniquely sensitive to the needs of his patients, especially those facing serious illnesses such as cancer. He aims to provide his patients the type of care that he would want for himself and his family.

Dr. Baig is married with three children and enjoys mountain biking, basketball, travelling and spending time with family. He remains dedicated in offering his services to our Northwest Ohio community.

Dr. Baig currently sees patients at our McCord Road, Isaac Streets Drive, and St. Vincent’s Specialty Clinic locations. He regularly operates at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Flower Hospital, The Toledo Hospital, Mercy Regency Surgery Center, and The Toledo Clinic Surgery Center.

Dr. Saleem Zafar is a native of Toledo, Ohio. He attended Maumee Valley Country Day School prior to attending the University of Chicago. He returned to Toledo to obtain his medical degree and then continued for an additional six years of training in Urology and Renal Transplantation at the University of Toledo Medical Center.

Dr. Zafar is passionate about treating all urologic disorders with an emphasis on minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He obtained advanced training in robotic prostate, kidney, and bladder surgery at Henry Ford Hospital, where many robotic urologic procedures were pioneered. He enjoys treating benign and cancerous urologic diseases in both adults and children. He utilizes cutting-edge treatments whenever possible and traditional treatments when appropriate.

Dr. Zafar has distinguished himself not only as an exemplary clinician, but also has won several awards for his research at the local, regional, and national levels. He has also been recognized by the University of Toledo as one of the best educators on campus by being awarded the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Award three times. He also won the John D. Silbar Award, given by the American Urologic Association annually for "outstanding qualities in clinical ability, high ethical and moral standards, compassion for patients, and outstanding bedside manner."

Dr. Zafar is married and has two daughters. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys traveling, golfing, and running in his spare time.

Dr. Dino Santacroce is a native of Toledo, Ohio and a graduate of St. Francis DeSales High School. Following this he attended The Ohio State University for his bachelor degree and the University of Toledo for his medical doctorate. He then continued at The University of Toledo Medical Center for an additional six years of training in Urology and Renal Transplantation.

Dr. Santacroce is devoted to treating all Urologic diseases, focusing on minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He obtained advanced training in robotic prostate, kidney, and bladder surgery during his six years of residency. He is passionate about treating benign and cancerous urologic diseases in all patients. In his practice, he utilizes both state-of-the-art and traditional treatments of Urologic disorders.

Dr. Santacroce has distinguished himself not only as an exemplary clinician, but also has been recognized for other Urologic achievements as well. He served on the board of the Ohio Urologic Society from 2009-2011 and has presented his research at multiple Urologic meetings at the local, state, and national levels. In addition, he was recognized for achieving the highest score in the nation on the annual Urology In-Service examination while in training.

Dr. Santacroce enjoys running, playing golf, and spending time with his family here in Toledo. He is excited about keeping his advanced training in Northwestern Ohio and providing cutting-edge Urologic care to the people of his hometown.
